SPEAKS AT CITY COUNCIL MEETING: TELLS PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD SUPPORTS SAN BERNARDINO ROAD PROJECT REJECTED BY CITY COUNCIL

During public comments at a city council meeting, Ms. Miranda-Jimenez introduces as the Clerk of West Covina School Board and supports this project which was rejected by the city council.  Following week the public requests she be admonished for comments as a board member, since the school board did not support the project.

BUDGET DEFICIT, RAISE PRICE OF SCHOOL LUNCHES

During budget discussions, Jimenez recommended raising the price of school lunches by 50% to cut the deficit.  Jimenez did not mention her children attend the now independent charter school located in West Covina, a school not covered by increases in school lunch prices.

A large percentage of students, over 50%, receive reduce fee or free lunches at school each day.  Jimenez wanted to reduce any budget deficit on the backs of people barely making ends meet.

As a side note, the lunch program makes a small profit each year.  She wanted to take this money and use for other purposes.  Maybe more Jimenez travel?

SUPPORTS L.A. COUNTY TAKEOVER OF WEST COVINA FIRE

Jimenez supports the effort to close the West Covina Fire Department.  Jimenez supports this change because her husband, an LA County Firefighter has been attempting to work in West Covina.  Under the takeover, Jimenez's husband transfers to West Covina.

CAST VOTES FOR HER NEEDS, NOT FOR WEST COVINA

Jimenez was heard telling a group of supporters she votes for what is best for the now independent charter school, the school her children attend, not the children of West Covina.  A member of the public reported this to the Los Angeles County Public Intregity Unit for investigation.

SCHOOLS NOW LESS SAFE

Jimenez's website says "Schools need to be safe places where kids can learn knowing the district has done everything possible to protect them." Yet, Jimenez voted against keeping the School Resource Officer (SRO).  Considering Newtown and other school shootings is voting against the SRO program doing "... everything possible to protect them...?"

The independent charter school her children attend demanded the school district pay for security at that school.  Jimenez wanted the school district to pay, but Jimenez will not pay for your children to have protection.

Jimenez states the high school can just hire another yard supervisor, as they can do the job just as well as our highly trained, professional police department. Jimenez continues to show her inability to understand the importance of school safety - one of the items she ran on in 2009.

NOT INTERESTED IN ALL DISTRICT SCHOOLS

When parents complained about the lack of patio covers to give children cover from the sun and rain at the independent charter school her children attend, Jimenez stated no child should face such horrible conditions.  Jimenez demanded immediate action.  Prior to this complaint other parents from other schools in the district had made the same complaint - Jimenez, along with Mike Spence and Steve Cox stated budget issues keep the school district from installing these covers.

IS THIS NEW LEADERSHIP FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE

Under the new leadership of Jimenez the school district has faced a loss of great teachers, administrators, and budget reserves have declined.  Jimenez supported giving the District Superintendent a $10,000 special bonus while voting to make cuts in other programs and raising the cost of school lunches for children.

TIME TO GO

We all want the best for our children, but when you hold office, promised to represent all of West Covina Unified, and vote on what is best for your children and support fundamental changes in our city to benefit your husband, while ignoring the needs of all children - it is time for you to leave office.
